El sábado pasado Vintage Odyssey celebró su décimo aniversario con una gran fiesta. Fiesta que no me podía perder. Si no le conocéis, es un scraper/diseñador español que en estos 10 años ha trabajado en DTs internacionales como Graphic 45, es educador de Prima Marketing y que ahora tiene toda una gama de productos para scrap, papeles, sellos, washi-tapes, y troqueles con Sizzix. Todo con un estilo Vintage que es muy característico.
Y como era una ocasión especial quise hacerle a Alberto, la mente creativa y "loca" tras Vintage Odyssey, un regalito para celebrar estos 10 años. Quería que fuese un regalo que representara estos años de trabajo por lo que recuperé los restos de sus colecciones e hice una caja de recuerdos.
Today's work is quite special because it's made with love. An anniversary is always a cause for celebration, especially if you celebrated creativity.
Last Saturday, Vintage Odyssey celebrated his tenth anniversary with a big party. A party that I could not miss. If you do not know him, he is a Spanish scraper/designer who in these 10 years has worked in international DTs like Graphic 45, is an educator of Prima Marketing and now has a whole range of scrap products: papers, stamps, washi-tapes, and dies with Sizzix. All with a vintage style that is very characteristic.
As it was a special occasion I wanted to give Alberto a gift to celebrate these 10 years, he is the creative and "crazy" mind after Vintage Odyssey. I was searching for something that represented these years of work, so I used the remains of their collections and made a memory box.
La base es un mini armario para llaves de madera. Lo forre con sus colecciones de papeles de scrap y con sus papeles de encuadernación y envejecí un poco los bordes con pintura.
La parte delantera tiene dos cajones, pensados para cartas, pero yo los rellené con mini-trabajos hechos con sus papeles. Un par de tags, varios atc's y un porta washi-tapes.
The base is a wooden mini cabinet for keys. I've used ink and scrap paper to decorate all the cabinet.
The front has two drawers, designed for letters, but I filled them with mini-works made with their papers. A couple of tags, several ATC's and a washi tapes holder.
El interior está forrado con sus nuevos papeles de encuadernación y dentro tiene aún más recuerdos.
The inside is lined with the new cartonnage papers. And it contains more scrap memories.
El elemento principal del interior son estos mini-libros. Son unos muestrarios de sus colecciones
Están hechos con unas tapas de cartón recubierto con un papel de la colección y decoradas con el nombre y algún adorno. Los nombres están sacados de la parte de abajo de los papeles donde siempre hay una tira con la marca, el papel y la colección. La decoración es muy sencilla ya que quera que el protagonista fuese el titulo, por lo que solo añadí algunas flores acompañando el titulo. Excepto en la colección de Sailor, en la que usé el papel de azulejos, que ya es muy colorido y con mucha personalidad por lo no era necesario poner más elementos aparte del título.
The main element of the interior is these mini-booklets. They are samples of his paper collections.
I made them with cardboard covers covered with paper and decorated with the collection name and some extras. The names are taken from the bottom of the papers where there is always a strip with the brand, the paper, and the collection.
The decoration is very simple since the focal point is the title, so I only added some flowers around the titles. There was an exception, the "Salor" book, in which I used the tile paper, which is already very colorful and full of personality so it was not necessary to put more elements apart from the title.
El interior de los libros está hecho con papel de impresora envejecido con la tinta "Tie dye" de Distress. Las hojas están unidas entre si y enganchadas a las tapas. Si os fijáis no tienen lomo. Al no ser un álbum que ha de ir "de pie" me gustaba más esta encuadernación.
The interior of the books is made with printer paper aged with Distress's "tie dye" ink. The sheets are joined together and glued to the covers. You can see that they didn't have a spine. In this case, I love this binding more.
Las hojas tienen pegadas las miniaturas de las colecciones, esas miniaturas que vienen en las portadas de los paquetes y que normalmente desechamos, pero que aveces, y con un poco de imaginación pueden sernos útiles. (Me alegré mucho de no haberlas tirado cuando me puse a pensar este trabajo)
The sheets have the miniatures of the collection. These miniatures usually come on the cover sheet and we usually didn't use them. But with a bit of imagination, they can be really useful. I was glad I didn't throw them away)
Por último y para que quedaran ordenadas en la caja les hice un agujero en un lateral de una de las tapas y puse un pequeño enganche de bisutería para poder colgarlas de los tornillos destinados para las llaves.
Finally and to put them in the box I made a hole and put a small jewelry hook to hang them in the screws that are made to use with the keys.
La idea es que se pueda crear un llavero de los diferentes elementos. A la anilla le podemos enganchar el camafeo y también uno o varios de los libritos.
The box has a couple of extra elements. A keyring with a decorative charm in metal and another in resin that I made especially for the occasion. Another charm with a metal passport and a resin cameo made with paper flowers.
The idea is that you can create a keychain of the different elements. We can attach the cameo to the ring and also one or more of the mini-books.
Por último añadí un elemento decorativo en 3D, que es una caja de cartulina que guarda rollos de papeles. Imita una caja de un taller de encuadernación y está hecha con retales de los nuevos papeles de encuadernar, que son el último producto que Vintage Odyssey ha sacado al mercado.
I add one last decorative element, a cardstock box holding paper rolls. Imitates a box from a binding workshop and is made with some paper scraps.
Me encanta hacer alterados de tipo Diorama, cajas que representan una escena o una idea y en la que los elementos están en tres dimensiones. Es muy divertido jugar con esa tercera dimensión, y aunque parecen complicados, en realidad es tener una idea a ir creando los elementos poco a poco hasta que todo encaja.
I love do dioramas, boxes that represent a scene or an idea and in which the elements are in three dimensions. It is very fun to play with that third dimension, and although they seem complicated, it is really easy. You just have to find an idea and create the elements little by little until everything fits.
